We’re working with a fast-paced, commercially driven organisation seeking an experienced Service Charge Accountant to take full ownership of a complex property portfolio.
This role requires someone with a deep understanding of service charge accounting, capable of navigating high volumes, complex leases, and detailed reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and finalise complex service charge accounts in line with lease terms and relevant legislation (e.g., Landlord and Tenant Act, RICS)
- Oversee year-end service charge reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and transparency across multi-site portfolios
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (property, facilities, and finance teams) to collate, analyse, and present financial data
- Lead on the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis relating to service charges
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and industry standards, particularly around audit and year-end procedures
- Manage tenant queries and disputes in a professional and solution-focused manner
- Continuously improve internal processes to streamline service charge workflows and reporting
- Work closely with external auditors and property managers to ensure timely submission and approval of accounts
- Proven experience preparing and managing service charge accounts
- Strong understanding of lease obligations, apportionment methods, and relevant regulatory standards
- Currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA (PQ / Finalist / Qual)
- Excellent Excel and systems skills – confident working with large data sets
- Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
- Must be UK-based with full right to work
