The Role
As a Private Client/Personal Tax Senior Associate, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of private clients, delivering high-quality personal tax compliance and supporting on a range of planning matters. The role requires strong technical ability, a client-first approach, and a desire to develop your skills further through hands-on work and collaboration with senior colleagues.
This position offers a clear route for development and increasing exposure to more complex advisory projects over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients, preparing annual self-assessment tax returns and calculating tax liabilities.
- Communicate directly with clients, addressing outstanding information and explaining tax positions clearly.
- Monitor billing and work in progress, ensuring deadlines and budget targets are met.
- Review tax returns prepared by junior staff, offering support and feedback.
- Support with planning work including Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and general personal tax advice.
- Assist with more complex planning work under the guidance of managers or directors to further develop technical knowledge.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with both clients and internal teams.
- Take part in work shadowing and mentoring opportunities to support professional growth.
- ATT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a personal tax role within a UK accountancy firm.
- Solid understanding of UK personal tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and client expectations.
- Confident communicator with a client-centric mindset.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to learning and development.
- Salary in the range of £42,000 – £52,000 depending on experience.
