The Tax function is part way through a multi-year transformation — not only to catch up with historic growth and evolving legislation, but to build the technical capability, governance and infrastructure required to support the business as it continues to scale at pace.
This appointment is critical. The Head of Direct Tax will play a central role in modernising and strengthening processes, improving controls and embedding a more integrated, technology-enabled approach across the group.
Currently, a number of key processes — including tax forecasting, consolidated tax charge calculations, CBCR, Corporate Interest Restriction and Pillar 2 — operate in silos and rely heavily on complex spreadsheets.
A key priority for the incoming individual will be to:
- Review and assess existing processes
- Make strategic recommendations
- Oversee implementation of a more integrated, controlled and potentially technology-enabled framework
This is a broad and highly visible role encompassing tax reporting, technical advisory, transfer pricing, business partnering and team leadership.
