Audit and Accounts Senior - Kettering
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom
Earnings: £40,000.00 to £45,000.00
 
We have an exciting opportunity for an Audit and Accounts Senior to join a leading firm based in Kettering. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offering a competitive salary and excellent company benefits.

Purpose of the Role:
As an Audit and Accounts Senior, you will provide high-quality audit, accounting, and related client services to clients in the Corporate Services team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s growth and development under minimal supervision.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Support partners and managers in delivering quality service to clients, ensuring compliance and effective planning.
  • Manage and deliver ad-hoc projects and assignments.
  • Review and prepare client accounts, tax, and VAT-related work from client information to the required standards.
  • Conduct remuneration planning exercises and complete audit assignments, either at the client site or remotely.
  • Assist with complex audit, accounts, and tax compliance for corporate clients.
  • Identify areas for additional services, including value-added advice and opportunities for client engagement.
  • Finalise and dispatch paperwork to clients and HMRC within deadlines and to a high standard.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain necessary information for accounts, ensuring proactive communication and effective questioning.
  • Monitor job quality and quantity in line with agreed budgets, consistently meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Record chargeable time and ensure maximum recovery.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and supervision to trainees, including reviewing their assignments.
  • Stay current with relevant courses and developments related to the job role.
  • Use support networks to clarify knowledge on complex queries, such as CCH or software vendors.
  • Prepare client tax returns and advise on tax payments, meeting deadlines in line with firm standards.
  • Assist clients with accounts software and other queries as required.
  • Participate in client seminars and networking, as guided by senior team members.
Critical Skills Required:
  • Excellent problem resolution skills and ability to generate ideas.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent active listening skills.
  • Ability to efficiently review and prepare client accounts, tax, and VAT-related work.
Critical Knowledge Required:
  • Strong knowledge of all taxes.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, including Xero and other relevant software.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounts preparation.
Qualifications Required:
  • Essential: ACA or ACCA-qualified.
  • Desirable: Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
  • Essential: Minimum of 2 years of proven accounts experience within a practice environment.
  • Desirable: Experience with cloud accounting software, such as Xero.
Personal Qualities:
  • Strong presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and trust.
  • Highly confidential and professional.
  • Good networking skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
