About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Qualified Accounts Senior/Semi-Senior to join a reputable practice in Kettering. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base, providing high-quality accounting and tax services while contributing to the growth and success of the practice. You will work closely with Partners and Managers, taking responsibility for client accounts, tax planning, and advisory support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare client accounts and tax returns accurately, advising clients on tax obligations and payment deadlines.
- Liaise with clients to gather information, ask effective questions, and provide proactive support.
- Work alongside Managers and Partners to develop client knowledge and act as a day-to-day contact.
- Assist with business planning, advisory services, and tax planning opportunities for clients.
- Identify opportunities for business and personal tax planning, preparing necessary reports and computations.
- Maintain high standards of work quality and efficiency, ensuring budgets and deadlines are met.
- Record chargeable time and maximise recovery.
- Support and coach trainees as required.
- Attend relevant training courses to maintain professional knowledge.
- Assist with bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and management accounts.
- Help clients with accounts software and bookkeeping queries, including Xero, Sage, and CCH.
- Participate in client seminars, marketing activities, and lead generation initiatives.
- Accurate and efficient preparation of accounts and personal tax returns.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to use accounting software effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, active listening, and idea-generation skills.
- Essential: ACA or ACCA qualified or semi-qualified. Minimum 2 years' experience in a practice environment.
- Desirable: Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero), rural business services, or a relevant degree.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting systems including CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, Farmplan, and others.
