Accounts Senior - Banbury

Qualified Accounts Senior – Banbury
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Job Type: Full-time
 
Overview:
We are working with a highly regarded accountancy practice in Banbury that is seeking a qualified Accounts Senior to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build strong client relationships and deliver a high-quality service across accounts and tax work, while also contributing to the wider development of the practice.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare statutory accounts and tax returns from client records, advising on tax liabilities and payment deadlines
  • Liaise directly with clients to gather financial information, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Build a working knowledge of clients and their businesses to become a key day-to-day contact
  • Support managers and partners on advisory and tax planning assignments, adding value to client relationships
  • Identify business and personal tax planning opportunities and prepare relevant reports and computations
  • Monitor workload against budgets and targets, maintaining high standards of quality and recovery
  • Accurately record chargeable time and contribute to the overall efficiency of the team
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and support to junior team members
  • Assist clients with software queries and bookkeeping issues when required
  • Attend training and CPD courses relevant to the role and utilise support networks to resolve technical queries
  • Take part in client seminars and marketing initiatives as required
Skills and Experience Required:
  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • At least 2 years of accounts experience within a practice environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and personal tax returns
  • Proficient in accounting software including CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, and ideally Farmplan
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking
  • Organised, proactive, and confident in working independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
  • Experience working with rural or agricultural clients
  • Familiarity with cloud accounting systems such as Xero
