Accounts Semi Senior / Senior

Qualified Accounts Senior / Semi-Senior Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role We are seeking a Qualified Accounts Senior/Semi-Senior to join a busy and supportive team in Banbury. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients across a range of sectors, take ownership of accounts and tax work, and develop your advisory and technical skills in a growing practice.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare client accounts and tax returns, advising on tax payable and deadlines.
  • Liaise proactively with clients to gather information and provide guidance on accounting and tax matters.
  • Work with managers and partners on client business and tax planning opportunities.
  • Support partners and managers with assignments such as business planning, advisory projects, and tax matters.
  • Identify potential business and personal tax planning opportunities for clients and prepare necessary reports or computations.
  • Monitor own performance, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and within agreed budgets.
  • Record chargeable time and ensure maximum recovery.
  • Support trainees by providing coaching and guidance on tasks.
  • Assist clients with bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and management accounts.
  • Attend relevant training and courses to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Help promote the firm and contribute to client seminars or marketing initiatives.
Requirements
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or part-qualified.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ proven accounts experience within a practice environment.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, Farmplan, or similar.
  • Strong computer literacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
  • Attention to detail, organised, resilient, and self-motivated.
Desirable
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero.
  • Experience in rural business services.

  • Professional presence with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to provide practical solutions.
